Alfred Effiong And Joseph Mbong Named To Malta Squads
Published: June 07, 2015Qormi star Alfred Effiong is set to earn his third international cap for Malta as he has been named to the final roster that will face Lithuania in a friendly match on Monday and a European Championship qualifier with Bulgaria four days later.
The 30 - year - old is one of the three strikers that has been included in the 23 - man squad list by manager Pietro Ghedin.
The Shooting Stars product debuted for the Island Nation in their 2 - 0 loss to Georgia in an exhibition game on March 25.
Another player of Nigerian descent Joseph Mbong is expected to star for Malta Under 21s in Euro qualifiers against Moldova and Latvia on June 11 and 16 respectively.
Malta may be a small footballing nation but the 17 - year - old is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in the country and was linked with a transfer to Bolton Wanderers last summer.
