Published: June 08, 2015
Birmingham City’s Viv Solomon-Otabor has been invited to train with Nigeria’s Olympic National Team, the Dream Team VI, ahead of their African Under 23 Championship qualifier against Congo in July.
The winger had been on the radar of the Nigeria Football Federation for some time now after he was recommended to the coaches by their scouting network.
At first it was thought that the 19 - year - old would train with the Flying Eagles in their build - up to the Fifa Under 20 World Cup in New Zealand.
While he was invited by word of mouth, Birmingham City did not sanction his trip to Africa because they were not officially informed of the trials.
This time around, Nigeria Under 23s coach, Samson Siasia, had dotted the i’s and crossed the t’s by officially calling him up for the get - together in Abuja.
Viv’s dad, Victor-Banks Otabor, represented the great Bendel Insurance before he relocated his family to the United Kingdom in search of the proverbial golden fleece.
