Kingsley Udoh, Peter Ambrose And Rabiu Ali Named To NPFL Team Of The Week
Published: June 20, 2015
Ademetan Abayomi selects the individual performers of the match-day 12 of the Nigeria Professional Football League.
Okeogbo Ndubuisi - Elkanemi Warriors
In a round where Wikki’s Sani Haliru and 3SC’s Affesoh Attah might have made my Team of the Week, I decided to go for Ndubuisi.
Sharks should have had a hatful of goals and, if it were not for the goal minder, they could have scored.
The glovesman made a string of saves to deny the top liner at the Sharks Stadium. To be fair, this guy deserves plaudits for his contribution at the Garden City.
Harrison Ibukun - Akwa United
This was one of the most professional performances I’ve seen from Akwa United since day one and this chap stood out with high marks in his defensive duties.
Kingsley Udoh - Sunshine Stars
The former Atletico Madrid defender is coming on in leaps and bounds. His match winner was world class.
It would appear that Kano Pillars’ loss was Sunshine gain. Udoh makes my TOTW for the first time this season. He, together with his fellow defenders kept a high line throughout the game
Peter Ambrose - Wikki Tourists
The win against FC Taraba had to do with a really spirited and composed defence.
It could not have been easy trying to keep the likes of Luter Iyorhe and Chinedu at bay during the course of an afternoon, but he managed it.
Yinka Adedeji - Shooting Stars
You cannot underestimate the impact experience of a professional footballer – both physically and psychologically.
This player is appearing in my TOTW for the second time this season which means his first wasn’t a fluke. He is fast regaining his form.
Enockola Akleche - Lobi Stars
There was no bigger platform to showcase his talents than the match against Nasarawa United and he did just that.
He was a menace all afternoon against the Solid Miners, who failed to come to terms with the former ABS midfielder’s infectious appetite for the game. His first goal was crucial.
Rabiu Ali - Kano Pillars
He is a player that has always captured my imagination. He will always provide assists and score goals you need to win games.
His movement, vision and not to mention his passes were so sensational in the win against Giwa. His brace, both from the penalty spot were well taken.
Ezekiel Bassey - Enyimba FC
This was the architect of the People’s Elephants victory over Heartland in Aba.
He was the livewire of the side who have been high with confidence this season.
Chisom Egbuchulam - Enugu Rangers
Chisom has taken the league by storm with his performance for the Flying Antelopes.
The solitary goal of the match against Abia Warriors was netted by him in injury time and it was so technically brilliant.
Rangers’ season looked to be at an average level and if anything good can happen to them, it surely will be this lad.
Godwin Obaje - Wikki Tourists
What an asset Obaje is proving to be for Wikki Tourists gaffer Abdul Maikaba. His work rate has endeared him to Bauchi fans and his goal against Taraba was amazing.
Adamu Mohammed - Kano Pillars
Always busy and caused several problems. He scored a brace, the first a brilliant lob, the second from a goal-mouth scramble. Dangerous.
