Muyiwa Lawal Salvages Point For Oluyole Warriors
Published: June 28, 2015
A second half Muyiwa Lawal strike rescued a point for Shooting Stars in their 1-1 Nigeria Professional Football League draw against FC Taraba on Saturday
Boris Konan opened the scoring in the 60th minute to give Taraba the lead, while substitute Lawal equalised in the 87th minute.
The encounter saw both teams take turns to dominate each half during the tie.
Taraba tried to unlock the defence on the flanks with Haliru Hashimu, who posed some early danger with his burst of pace.
Minutes later, Suraj Sodiq denied Chinedu Ohanachom with a goal line clearance. The superb touches of the Jalingo-based team saw the Oluyole Warriors defence retreating back.
With Taraba having deployed more men upfront, it was all out warfare on the Shooting Stars back-line.
Their strength and dominance on the ball troubled the away side’s defence and kept them on their toes.
The opening goal arrived when Konan smartly pulled away from the defence to see his side-footer hit the back of the net.
The ball possession in the business end of the second half was dominated by the visitors as they went in search of the equaliser.
The home side was pinned back in their own territory and were forced to absorb the pressure from the rampant Shooting Stars.
Substitute Lawal was the catalyst in the equaliser as his splendid free-kick sailed to the back of the net as the game ended 1-1.
