Ike Uzo Dedicates Match Winner To God
Published: June 28, 2015
Ike Uzo scored his first league goal of the season as he steered Spotlight to their third Nigeria National League victory, edging Jigawa Golden Stars 1-0 at the Karkanda Stadium on Saturday.
The hosts pushed up the table courtesy of Uzo’s first half header, which keeps the Katsina outfit one point adrift of leaders Plateau United, who picked up a 1-1 draw against Supreme Court on Friday.
It was all Spotlight from the blast of the whistle, as their attackers had early chances, before Uzo broke the deadlock just fifteen minutes into the match.
A loose ball was picked up after a failed clearance, allowing Solomon Kantoma to whip in a dangerous cross, which Uzo met with a powerful diving header to send the home side on their way to victory.
Uzo was elated with his first goal of the season and dedicated it to God.
“I thank God for the crucial goal that gave us victory,” Uzo was quoted.
“My hope is to continue to play my part and work hard in the colours of Spotlight,” the former TEAP FC skipper added.
