Defending Champs Kano Pillars Beat El Kanemi
Published: July 06, 2015
A solitary strike from Adamu Mohammed helped Kano Pillars secure a slim 1-0 win over Elkanemi Warriors.
The game got off to an entertaining start with Rabiu Ali firing over the bar from a free kick.
In the 24th minute, Warriors resistance was finally broken by former Gombe United forward Mohammed who scored with a low shot after he was put through by Samuel Tswanya.
Elkanemi, guilty of poor ideas around their opponents box, failed to create any anxious moment for the Pillars defence.
With time running out the home team resulted to keeping possession which frustrated the visitors who desperately wanted to level things up.
The game ended with Pillars hanging on to claim a narrow win that keeps them on 7th position in the 20-team Nigeria Professional Football League.
