Flying Eagles Star Kelechi Iheanacho Training With Manchester City First Team
Published: July 07, 2015
Nigeria youth international Kelechi Iheanacho was among the youth - teamers selected to train with Manchester City’s first - team during the start of pre - season training on Tuesday.
With several members of the squad yet to return to Manchester due to their involvement in internationals and the Copa America, coach Manuel Pellegrini invited promising youngsters Iheanacho, Angus Gunn, Marcos Lopes, Pozo and Bruno Zuculini to make up the numbers.
The attacking midfielder was spotted alongside the likes of Vincent Kompany, Yaya Toure and Gael Clichy during the workout.
Should the Taye Academy product impress the Chilean manager during pre - season, there is a probability that he will be gradually introduced into the first team of the Citizens in the 2015 - 2016 campaign.
Iheanacho’s quality is not in doubt, having won the Golden Ball at the 2013 Fifa Under 17s, but his priority now is to banish the memories of his dismal outing at the Fifa Under 20 World Cup in New Zealand and steal the heart of Pellegrini.
