Qatar Are Not Interested In Capping Imoh Ezekiel
Published: July 18, 2015
A member of the Royal Family and Qatar 2022 LOC, Sheikh Khalid Al Thani, has denied that the Asian country are interested in naturalizing Imoh Ezekiel to enable him play for them at the World Cup.
The 36 Lion product joined Al Arabi on a four - year deal last summer, rejecting the advances of several European teams in the process.
And it has been suggested and even confirmed by Imoh Ezekiel’s entourage that the door is wide open for him to represent Qatar at the World Cup in 2022 as he has not played competitively for the Super Eagles.
“That’s a gossip story that originated somewhere. We never had the intention of Ezekiel or anyone else to naturalize as a Qatari citizen.
“The organization of the World Cup is our only business,” Al Thani was quoted as saying by belgiumsoccer.be.
36 Lion CEO, Liameed Olawale Gafar, told allnigeriasoccer.com last year : “If he does well for Al Arabi and adapts just as he did at Standard Liege, then, he has a chance to play for Qatar. ”
Imoh Ezekiel was invited for this weekend’s African U23 Championship qualifier against Congo but did not show up as he is still sorting out his future ahead of the 2015 - 2016 season.
