United States Under - 23 international Fatai Alashe was red- carded for the first time in the MLS on Sunday morning as his team San Jose Earthquakes lost their tenth game of the season.
Rasheed Olabiyi’s Houston Dynamo beat The Quakes 2 - 1 at BBVA Compass Stadium, with the former Enyimba midfielder getting a run - out in the last five minutes.
San Jose Earthquakes played the last 30 minutes a man short after Alashe was dismissed for a second bookable offense.
The 21 - year - old was first cautioned in the 43rd minute before he was sent off in the second half for pulling Giles Barnes after he was beaten.
Prior to today’s game, the defensive midfielder had been cautioned three times in the league this season, in matches against Real Salt Lake, New York RB and Orlando City.
In the Western Conference standings, Houston Dynamo occupy seventh place while SJ Earthquakes are two positions behind after accumulating 26 points from 22 matches.
