Anthony Ujah Scores On Away Debut For First Time In His Career
Published: August 22, 2015
Werder Bremen have registered their first point of the season after playing out a 1 - 1 draw with Hertha BSC in the Bundesliga on Friday night.
In front of 56,376 fans, Stocker scored from close range to give the hosts the lead in the 6th minute but Anthony Ujah equalized with his team’s first chance of the game 20 minutes later.
After losing their opening fixture against Schalke 04 last weekend, the Nigeria international was delighted after his side picked up a point at the Olympiastadion.
“We were better today than against Schalke, we were more aggressive and our reaction showed that we wanted all three points,” Ujah told his club’s official website, werder.de.
“Obviously the early goal was annoying, a real shame, but the crucial thing was that we showed character and performed well. Everyone fought hard and gave everything.
“It was definitely a deserved point.”
Friday was the first time in his career that Ujah scored for a new team in his first game away from home, having fired blanks against Aalesund (March 14, 2010), Freiburg ( August 13,2011) and Union Berlin (September 21,2012).
