Olarenwaju Kayode Insists He Is Not Competing With Teammate For Top Scorer Award
Published: August 23, 2015
Statistically, Austria Vienna striker Olarenwaju Kayode is the second most feared striker in the Austrian Bundesliga, having netted his fourth goal of the season in Sunday’s 2 - 2 draw against Salzburg .
The ex Nigeria youth international has pointed out that his team would have snatched all three points if not for the dismissal of Lukas Rotpuller in the 72nd minute.
Indeed, three minutes after the defender was shown a red card, Salzburg equalized through Stefan Lainer.
“I think the red card affected the game’s outcome because we were playing against a good team, ” said Olarenwaju Kayodeto allnigeriasoccer.com.
“I am not competing with Alexander Gorgon (top scorer in the Bundesliga), there is no competition in life, I am on my lane trying to do my best.
“I want to score as many goals as possible before the end of the league, I want the supporters to keep supporting us and I am thankful and grateful for their love.”
In the race for the Golden Boot, Olarenwaju Kayode is two goals behind teammate Alexander Gorgon.
