Sunday Oliseh Happy To See Mikel Start For Chelsea
Published: September 12, 2015
Coach Sunday Oliseh was delighted to see one of the most influential Super Eagles players, John Obi Mikel, named on the teamsheet for Chelsea in their Premier League clash against Everton.
The defensive midfielder made Chelsea’s starting XI in the Premier League for the first time since the last fixture of last season, in an academic game against Sunderland.
“Happy for John Obi Mikel as he starts for Chelsea, ” Sunday Oliseh tweeted.
The highlight of his performance before he was subbed off in the 55th minute was creating the chance that led to Nemanja Matic’s 36th minute goal from distance.
Coincidentally, over the course of last season, Mikel was credited with only one assist and it came against Everton, precisely on August 30, 2014 when he set up Diego Costa in the final minute in Chelsea’s 6 - 3 win.
The tables turned today after Chelsea were beaten 3 - 1 by Everton at Goodison Park .
