Published: September 22, 2015
Seattle Sounders star Obafemi Martins missed out on the latest Team of the Week announced by the official website of Major League Soccer in conjunction with EA SPORTS FIFA 2016.
But the Nigeria international was still recognized for his performance against Vancouver Whitecaps on Sunday, with the striker one of the seven players that was named on the bench or in other words he was amongst the best 18 players in the league for Week 29.
In a 4 - 3 - 3 formation, Sebastian Giovinco (Toronto FC), Devon Sandoval (Real Salt Lake) and Didier Drogba (Montreal Impact) were chosen to lead the frontline.
Obafemi Martins’s 87th minute strike against Vancouver Whitecaps was not nominated for the Goal of the Week award, with Felipe (New York Red Bulls), Ned Grabavoy (New York City FC), Mike Grella (New York Red Bulls), Gonzalo Pineda (Seattle Sounders) and Dom Dwyer (Sporting Kansas City) all making the shortlist.
