Underfire Coach Oliseh Hails Super Eagles Performance Against DRC
Published: October 09, 2015
Underfire Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has praised the performance of the squad despite losing 2 - 0 to Democratic Republic of Congo in an exhibition game on Thursday night in Belgium.
The former Ajax Amsterdam and Juventus midfielder has singled out Arsenal striker Alex Iwobi for special praise after catching the eye on his international debut for the Super Eagles.
“We played a makeshift team and we are trying to rebuild. I saw a very good team, we had more possession even though there were shortcomings in certain areas,” Sunday Oliseh stated.
“We lost but Iwobi came in and showed some good signs, Shehu and some other players made their debut.
“It has been very difficult for us working here. Our aim is to try to qualify for the Nations Cup.”
Oliseh’s coaching credentials will come under another scrutiny on Sunday night when the Super Eagles meet with Cameroon at Edmond Machtens Stadium, Brussels.
