Godfrey Oboabona Confirms He Is Out Of Cameroon Friendly
Published: October 10, 2015
Godfrey Oboabona will miss the Super Eagles eagerly anticipated friendly with Cameroon in Brussels on Sunday night, the Rizespor defender has confirmed to allnigeriasoccer.com.
The news will be a big blow to Nigeria manager Sunday Oliseh, who had lamented the absence of Kenneth Omeruo and the ex Sunshine Stars skipper in the wake of the national team’s 2 - 0 loss to DR Congo two days ago.
Both Oliseh and Oboabona had been hopeful that the player will be issued a visa to travel to Belgium on Friday, the last working day of the week before the embassy closes for business but it did not come to pass.
Celtic’s Efe Ambrose, William Troost - Ekong, Leon Balogun and newcomers Abdullahi Shehu, Wilfred Ndidi and Austin Oboroakpo can all slot in at central defense but coach Sunday Oliseh had planned to throw Oboabona straight into the squad versus Cameroon.
