Published: October 21, 2015
Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has revealed that he attempted contacting Emmanuel Emenike a day after news emerged that he had retired for the national team but the Fenerbahce loanee made himself incommunicado.
In a preemptive action by the 2013 African Cup of Nations top goalscorer, he called it quits with the Super Eagles after information was leaked to the local media that he might not be called up for the World Cup qualifiers against Swaziland.
“I have called him twice. Immediately I heard it, the first thing was that I needed to get a confirmation which I called him yesterday and I am still expecting a return call,”Sunday Oliseh told brilafm.net.
“So when I hear from him, that is when I will accept that he really has retired.”
