Published: October 22, 2015
Warri Wolves right - back Solomon Kwambe has been ruled out of the Super Eagles World Cup qualifiers against Swaziland next month after picking up a groin strain injury in a training game prior to the African Nations Championship qualifier against Burkina Faso.
National team medics patched him up for the first leg tie against the West Africans in Port Harcourt last weekend but he had to make way for Enugu Rangers defender Orji Kalu before the start of the second half after feeling pains.
“I am not traveling with the team to Burkina Faso, I am already out of the camp because of an adductor muscle tear,” Solomon Kwambe told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“I have been told I will be out of action for three weeks. I picked up the injury in a friendly game before the Burkina Faso game in camp.”
The home - based Super Eagles will qualify for the 2016 African Nations Championship if they avoid defeat in Ouagadougou, and Kwambe has no doubt that his colleagues will seal qualification on Saturday.
“Yes, of course, they will qualify for the tournament because they know the importance of the match, ” added Kwambe.
In Sunday Oliseh’s first competitive game as Super Eagles coach, he put his faith in Solomon Kwambe, having named him in the starting line - up against Tanzania.
