FC Midtjylland loanee Musefiu Ashiru has admitted that he thought Skive would not qualify for the next round of the DBU Pokalen when they faced Danish Superliga side Viborg on Tuesday.
Skive were two goals up in the opening 27 minutes of the tie at the Spar Nord Arena but the visitors fought back to draw level and the game was heading for extra - time until Ashiru popped up with the match winner in stoppage time.
“I didn’t think Skive were going to win because I told one of my teammates when it was 90 minutes that if we end this in a draw, we are going to lose, ” Ashiru told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“I was looking at the goalkeeper for a long time because he always stood outside his area and when I got the ball the first thing on my mind was to look at him again and try to play it and it resulted in a goal.
“I was so happy that I made everybody happy yesterday and myself.”
Skive are one of the eight teams that progressed to the quarter - finals of the Cup which will be played in March.
