Carl Ikeme Enjoying His Role As Super Eagles Netminder
Published: October 29, 2015
Wolves goalkeeper Carl Ikeme has been out of favour at the Championship outfit but he is way ahead of other netminders in the Nigeria setup following the retirement of long - serving Lille numero uno Vincent Enyeama.
With the Anglo - Nigerian yet to be suit up in the second - tier since August, he has admitted that he is always eagerly looking forward to linking up with his Super Eagles teammates during the international break.
“I’m really enjoying it. I’ve not been able to play that much with Wolves this season so getting a few games for Nigeria has kept me going really, ” said Carl Ikeme to expressandstar.com.
“It’s been a really welcome boost. Obviously I’ve not been playing much, it’s not easy, so it gives me a week or 10-day break to go away and give me something else to focus on.”
The 29 - year - old Ikeme has kept three cleansheets in four appearances for the national team, and the only time his defense was breached was against Democratic Republic of Congo in an international friendly in Belgium.
