Ujah Admits Being Jittery Before Facing Cologne
Published: October 30, 2015
Werder Bremen striker Anthony Ujah has confessed that he was jittery before he took to the pitch against Cologne in the DFB Pokal on Wednesday night.
Cologne saved the Nigeria international from his nightmare at Mainz after signing him on loan before acquiring him on a permanent basis in the summer of 2013 and he repaid the club’s confidence by scoring 34 goals in the league prior to his move to Werder Bremen.
“It was a difficult game for me and a strange feeling to come up against Köln, ” said Anthony Ujah to werder.de.
“I’d been thinking about it every day since the Mainz game. Maybe I had thought and worried a bit too much.
“The goal took a huge weight off his shoulders. I’m very happy about my first goal at home. I did find it difficult not to celebrate.”
Ujah has been left out in the latest Nigeria squad but a recall in future can not be ruled out going by his form in the Bundesliga.
