Wenger Reveals Iwobi In Contention To Make Premier League Debut Vs Swansea
Published: October 31, 2015
Super Eagles frontman Alex Iwobi could play his first game in the English Premier League on Saturday, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed.
The Gunners have been hit by an injury crisis ahead of the trip to the Liberty Stadium, with Three Lions stars Theo Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain picking up injuries in the 3 - 0 loss to Sheffield Wednesday in the Capital One Cup.
“[Joel] Campbell and Alex Iwobi [could play out right]. Santi [Cazorla] can play there as well but he has become very important centrally,” said Wenger.
“The problem sometimes is that you can destroy two departments if you move one player out. We control the ball better with Santi in the middle.”
Iwobi made his competitive debut for Arsenal on Wednesday against Sheffield Wednesday but has never been named in an 18 - man squad for the Premier League.
