Mabo Says Hamza Remains Mighty Jets Chairman
Published: November 01, 2015The President of Mighty Jets FC of Jos, Alhaji Ismaila Mabo, has
rubbished a statement made in the media by a group who called themselves
Founders and Patriots of Mighty Jets, saying they have sacked the
Management of the Club and appointed a new management team.
Mabo, who had a chat with allnigeriasoccer.com, said the group led by Ali Abubakar aka Ali Promoter are day dreamers who want to reap where they did not sow.
“Ali Promoter has been parading himself as President of Mighty Jets and making bogus paper-appointments here and there”.
“He said my Chairman, Godfrey Hamza mismanaged funds and for that he is dissolving Hamza’s led management, he is doing that in what capacity.
“When the young man was expending his personal resources to run the Club nobody came asking questions but now that the Plateau State government is helping out with running costs and payment of salaries People are now interested in the
Club”.
“It is only the board that can sack Hamza and as President of the Club the board members and I have not seen anything wrong with his management style”.
The former Nigerian International added by saying he alongside Layiwola Olagbeminro, Sule Kekere, Gabriel Babalola, Sam Garba Okoye and two others formed Mighty Jets in 1970 and as the most senior member of the group he was chosen to lead and has remained the President.
He said he is aware of the existence of One Mighty Jets International and that is not his business because Mighty Jets International is different from Mighty Jets FC.
He also used the opportunity to warn Ali Promoter to stop parading himself as Mighty Jets FC President or else he will be forced to orchestrate legal actions against him.
Mabo, who remains the most successful Women’s National Team Coach on the African Continent to date is asking members of the public to disregard Ali Promoter and his group.
He has also maintained that Godfrey Hamza remains the President of Mighty Jets FC of Jos and also said the Board will officially communicate the Plateau State government through the Ministry of Sports as well as the Secretary to the State Government soon.
He also thanked the Governor Simon Lalong led administration in Plateau State for offsetting the Salary arrears owed the Players and assured that with more support Mighty Jets FC would join Plateau United FC in the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, in the nearest future.
Mighty Jets FC who won the Nigeria top flight’s very first edition of the league in 1970 have been playing in the Nigeria National League for sometime now.
The Plateau State government decided to take full sponsorship of the Club three years ago paying salaries and providing running costs so as to use the club as an avenue to promote peace and unity but since then another group has sprung up also claiming ownership.
