Hope Akpan Has Mixed Feelings After Ending 3,458 - Minute Long Goal Drought
Super Eagles midfielder Hope Akpan has mixed feelings about scoring his first goal in the Championship for close to two years.<br /><br />The Anglo - Nigerian scored his first goal in Blackburn Rovers colours in their 2 - 2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday at Ewood Park but was disappointed that his team surrendered their one - goal lead six minutes from time.<br /><br />“Would have been sweeter if we got the 3 points but nevertheless happy to get my first @OneRovers goal and cheeky mom,” Akpan said on Twitter on Saturday night.<br /><br />The summer arrival from Reading has started and finished the last six games played by Blackburn Rovers in the Championship.<br /><br />Prior to scoring in the fifth minute against Sheffield Wednesday, Akpan had not hit target in the Championship since he found the net in Reading’s 7 - 1 hammering of Bolton Wanderers on January 18, 2014, a goal drought that stretched to 3,458 minutes.<br /><br />Photo Credit : rovers.co.uk<br />
