Published: December 07, 2015
Etebo Oghenekaro has been one of the Dream Team players that has caught the eye at the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations and the Warri Wolves frontman is confident that the national team will qualify for the final of the tournament by beating Senegal on Wednesday.
For the first time ever, Etebo has opened up on why the Nigeria Under 23s crumbled in the second half in their Group B fixtures against Mali and Egypt, conceding four goals in total in the process.
“We are confident that we can beat the host nation, we are preparing strongly for the game and it is not going to be an easy one but hopefully we are looking forward to victory, ” Etebo told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“We were relaxed in the second half against Mali and Egypt and we lost concentration then but we are going to get it right and it started from the Algeria game.
“Things are going to be in good shape from the goalkeeper to the attack, every department. ”
It is understood that several European teams, including Marseille and Montpellier HSC, have posted scouts to run the rule over the future stars of African football in Senegal.
But Etebo Oghenekaro has been strongly linked with a move to Portugal instead and he did not give much away when asked to confirm the reports, but did not deny the transfer interest.
“Well for now I can’t tell but hopefully looking forward to that and I pray for His grace, things will surely get better.
“I am aware clubs are on ground like the Portuguese and the rest, so until the end of the tournament before I make it public,” the Dream Team VI number 8 concluded.
