Oyo Police To Battle For Commissioner of Police Cup

Men of Oyo Command of Nigerian Police Force will do battle to know who will carry this year’s edition of a soccer tournament tagged ‘CP Cup’ which will commence on Wednesday, 9th December at the football playing ground of the Command’s headquarters Eleyele, Ibadan.
The soccer event which is expected to be kicked-off by Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Leye Oyebade who doubles as the Chief Host will be played among eight teams formed from different Police formation within the state command.
Among teams that would be competing for honour this year according to the officer-in-charge of sports in the state, DSP Segun Famuyiwa against the State Headquarters won the cup last year include Iyaganku Area Command Team, Agodi Area Command Team, Oyo Area Command Team, Ogbomoso Area Command Team, BSC FC (Band, Skynet and CTU Team), BFMS FC (Bomb, FHP/Mss/SIB) and a Team from Mopol 4.
The CP in a pre tournament briefing said sporting activities is an integral part of Police system which the Nigerian Police Force has used to lift the image of the country globally.
He however, urged his men to exhibit spirit of fair-play and not a do-or-die posture while vying for honour in the one-week soccer event that would be rounded up on Thursday 17th this month.
He also noted that the competition might be extended next year to accommodate participants from other sister’s security agencies with aim to bolster the bond between Police and other arms of security agencies.
