Dream Team Media Officer Claims Awoniyi Is Available For Selection
Published: December 09, 2015
The Media Officer of the Dream Team, Timi Ebikagboro, has played down reports that Liverpool loanee Taiwo Awoniyi will not be available for selection in the semifinal clash at the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations against Senegal on Wednesday afternoon.
Whatever the case maybe, the Flying Eagles star is unlikely to make the starting XI as he has struggled to make an impact for the Dream Team in the three games he has featured in.
Siasia was putting the finishing touches on his team - sheet as at the time of the report and Ebikagboro has refused to rule out Awoniyi from the squad, claiming that he was involved in the last training session with the squad on Tuesday.
“I wouldn’t know about him (Awoniyi) not featuring, the line - up is not yet out, ” says Ebikagboro to allnigeriasoccer.com.
“We know the captain is out, Dimgba is also out. Awoniyi trained with the team on Tuesday. ”
Indeed, Taiwo Awoniyi trained with the Dream Team VI on Tuesday afternoon but allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Ebikagboro conveniently left out the fact that he walked away from the pitch in pains after picking up an injury.
Nigeria will automatically qualify for the football event of next year’s Olympic Games if they beat Senegal today.
