Joel Obi , 24, will not be in action on Saturday in the Serie A tie between his club Torino and Sassuolo.
Ahead of the clash at the Stadio Città del Tricolore, Torino manager Giampiero Ventura has announced a 20 - man squad for the trip to Reggio Emilia without including the Nigeria international.
The attacking midfielder is nearing a return to full fitness after suffering a recurrence of pain in his hamstring.
The summer arrival from Inter Milan has played three matches in the colours of Torino, a total of 94 minutes of game time.
Joel Obi’s last start in the Serie A was in January of this year when he lasted the distance in Inter Milan’s 1 - 0 loss to his present employer.
