Hull City Boss Admits Chuba Akpom Is Still Learning The Ropes
Published: December 25, 2015Hull City manager Steve Bruce has advised Chuba Akpom to improve his goalscoring after the striker failed to convert so many chances that came his way in The Tigers 2 - 0 loss to Rotherham United last weekend.
The former Manchester United defender believes the Arsenal loanee still has time on his hands to work on his weaknesses as he is a young player learning the ropes.
“And, at the other end, unfortunately Chuba (Akpom) didn’t take the chances that he got. They’ll all learn from that and on another day, Chuba could be coming away with five goals, ” said Steve Bruce to Hull City’s official webpage.
“It’s something he has to improve on, but he’s young and that is what he is here for. He’s 19 and learning his trade. We have to embrace that.
“You have to encourage young players, help them to learn from their mistakes and stop them from happening.”
Akpom has scored only one goal in the Championship in his last ten games and will be hoping to increase his goal haul in the Boxing Day fixture against Burnley.
