Published: January 04, 2016
Through a press release, Danish Superliga club Hobro IK have announced that they have secured the signature of Nigerian - American defender Babajide Ogunbiyi until the end of the 2015 - 16 campaign.
Ogunbiyi began this season at the same club where Alhaji Gero plies his trade, Viborg, but officially became a free agent at the end of December when he ran out of contract.
Speaking on the new acquisition, sporting director Jens Hammer stated : “We have had a good eye for Babajide for several years.
“He is strong in close combat and head, and therefore he reminds the center defenders we already have. It is simply a desire signing for us. ”
The 29 - year - old Ogunbiyi has been in Denmark for the past six years but had a brief stint with New York Red Bulls for less than one month in the summer of 2012.
