Roma Coach Delighted With New Nwankwo Kanu, Sadiq Umar
Published: January 10, 2016
Roma’s new kid on the block Sadiq Umar ended his scoring streak in the capital side’s 1 - 1 draw with AC Milan in the Serie A on Saturday.
The 18 - year - old Umar has somehow forced his way into Roma’s first - team in recent games, with manager Rudi Garcia handing him his second consecutive start in the tie staged at the Stadio Olimpico.
Despite the youngster failing to get on the score sheet, the manager was pleased with his overall performance and hinted that he will get more playing opportunities even if Edin Dzeko returns to full fitness.
“What matters is that everyone can be involved. We saw that in the first half - more players mean greater quality, ” Garcia stated.
“I’m delighted with Sadiq. It’s a shame he missed that chance early on but he’s young and is doing his bit.”
A product of Future of Africa Academy, Umar is on loan at Roma from Spezia until the end of the 2015 - 16 season.
