Premier League Dubious Goal Panel Takes Away Odion Ighalo Goal Against Chelsea
Published: January 12, 2016
The Premier League’s Goal Accreditation Panel has clarified on the identity of the goalscorer in Watford’s 2 - 2 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League on Boxing Day.
Odion Ighalo was earlier awarded the 56th minute but after a careful review by the so - called Dubious Goals Panel, it has been credited as a Gary Cahill own goal.
Thus, one goal has been deducted from the number of goals the Nigeria international was earlier credited with, meaning he has 13 goals to his name in the top - flight as at Week 20.
Ighalo remains the third highest goalscorer in the Premier League but is now two goals behind Romelu Lukaku (Everton) and Jamie Vardy (Leicester City) who lead the way.
