Kelechi Iheanacho Named To Manchester City Champions League Roster
Published: February 01, 2016
Frenchman Samir Nasri has been axed from the squadlist having failed to recover from an injury that should keep him on the sidelines for the next two months and has been replaced by Iheanacho.
Also, Ivory Coast star Wilfried Bony is battling to overcome a calf complaint and the Chilean manager thought it wise to name Iheanacho in his latest roster as Aguero was the only fit striker ahead of the last 16 clash with Dynamo Kiev.
“We needed another striker and Kelechi is in a good moment, ” Pellegrini told City’s official webpage.
“Kelechi is one player in our squad - it’s important when young players have the option to show why they’re an important player.
“He will continue trying to fight to start every game. For me, as a manager, you have to work with the whole squad as we have to play so many games.”
Kelechi Iheanacho, 19, has found the net in all the competitions he has played this season for The Citizens, including the Premier League, Capital One Cup and the FA Cup.
