Nigeria National League, NNL campaigners, Supreme Court Football Club of Abuja on Thursday arrived Ijebu Ode, Ogun state ahead of this year’s pre-season tournament organized for top clubs featuring in various Nigerian Leagues.
While in Ijebu, the Apex Boys as the Supreme Court soccer outfit are fondly called will first trade tackle with former Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL Champions, Kano Pillars before facing Giwa FC of Jos, Nigeria Nation-wide side Ebedei FC, NPFL new entrants, Ikorodu Utd, NNL team Crown FC among others.
Given the reason why the leading team within the Nation’s capital are taking part in the third edition of the Gold Cup competition, General Manager Tolulope Oguntimehin said “the pre-season tournament which we were part of last year is effort geared towards preparing the team for the task ahead.
“This coming season, we hope to step up further more than what we were able to achieve last season barring unforeseen challenges.
“The management of the club is doing all within its power to ensure better playing conditions for the team despite the current economic impediments.”
Already, Coach Joachim Osuji has selected no fewer than 30 players after a two-week screening exercise in Abuja where nearly 100 players turned up at Supreme Court play ground to fight for shirts. Old lads who failed to impress were equally shown the exit door.
