FA Cup: Adarabioyo Named MOTM On Man City Debut; Iheanacho Notches Helper; Onomah Impresses; Mikel, Alli In Action
Published: February 21, 2016
Anglo-Nigerian defender Tosin Adarabioyo made his competitive debut for Manchester City as they suffered a 5-1 humiliation away to Chelsea.
And despite the five goals conceded, the England youth international was voted the Man of the Match by the official website of the Citizens.
Kelechi Iheanacho set up the only goal scored by Manchester City eight minutes before half-time. The Super Eagles rookie and Tosin Adarabioyo played the entirety of the contest at Stamford Bridge while Obi Mikel subbed out in the 82nd minute.
Tottenham Hotspur crashed out of the competition following their 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace at White Hart Lane.
Josh Onomah and Dele Alli were both handed starts for this one. Onomah, who played the full game, was impressive particularly in the first half and would have opened his goalscoring account for Spurs in the 85th minute but his shot was deflected behind.
Dele Alli could have given Spurs the lead in the 23rd minute but his shot hit both posts before it was cleared the line. He was in action for 80 minutes.
West Ham United have set up an away meeting with either Manchester United or Shrewsbury Town in the quarterfinals after thrashing Blackburn Rovers 5-1 at Ewood Park, with Emmanuel Emenike (2) and Victor Moses finding the net.
Emenike, Moses and Blackburn Rovers midfielder Hope Akpan went the distance while Angelo Ogbonna was replaced in the 78th minute.
