Exclusive: Golden Eaglets Skipper Kelechi Nwakali Returns To Owerri After Testing With Arsenal
Published: February 26, 2016
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Nigeria U17s international Kelechi Nwakali is back in Owerri after his trip to London to undergo trials with English Premier League high-flyers Arsenal.
At this point, it is unclear if he would be offered a contract by the Londoners in the near future but this website can confirm that the central midfielder and his representatives did not sign any deal with The Gunners during their trip to the United Kingdom.
It would be a big blow to Kelechi Nwakali if Arsenal pass up the opportunity to acquire him, with the same fate befalling him last year when he traveled to Manchester for contract talks with City.
Chelsea and West Ham had been in the race to sign the Diamond Academy starlet before they were leapfrogged by Arsenal.
Of the 21 players that represented the Golden Eaglets at the 2015 Fifa Under 17 World Cup, only two in the shape of Victor Osimhen(Wolfsburg) and Lukman Zakari(CS Sfaxien) have agreed terms with foreign clubs.
