CBF Confirms Dream Team Will Face Brazil On March 24; Fatai Amao To Coach U23s
Published: February 27, 2016
The Confederacao Brasileira de Futebol (CBF) has confirmed that the Brazil U23s will take on Nigeria in a high-profile friendly at Cariacica, Vitoria, Espirito Santo on Thursday, March 24.
The Dream Team VI technical crew are taking the game against the South Americans as an important step in their preparations for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
While a maximum of three players above the age limit can feature in the tournament, all the 30 players called up by Samson Siasia for the tuneup game are Under-23 players, including Victor Osimhen who celebrated his 17th birthday last December.
Both countries have met three times in previous editions of the Olympic Games, with Nigeria defeating their illustrious opponents 4-3 in the last encounter, a semifinal game at Atlanta 1996.
In 1988, Nigeria struggled against the South American powerhouse, losing 4-0 while they drew 3-3 in 1968.
The substantive coach of the Dream Team Samson Siasia has moved up to the Super Eagles for the time being, so Fatai Amao will lead his troops to Brazil.
