Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho won his first piece of silverware as a Manchester City player on Sunday night.
The 19-year-old was an unused substitute as The Citizens defeated Liverpool 3-1 on penalties, with normal and extra-time ending one goal apiece.
City drew first blood in the 48th minute through Fernandinho who fired past Mignolet after he was set up by Sergio Aguero, only for Coutinho to equalize seven minutes from time.
The Brazilian tucked home after Lallana’s effort rebounded off the post , forcing the game into extra-time.
Kelechi Iheanacho sparkled in the Capital One Cup this season, scoring 2 goals ( 2 assists) in total in the earlier rounds but could not play in the final after Wilfried Bony passed a fitness test few days before the showpiece game.
