Published: March 03, 2016
Leon Balogun was pleased to assist Mainz 05 rack up their 12th Bundesliga win of the season on Wednesday night against Bayern Munich.
The Super Eagles defender went the distance as Mainz shocked the champions 2-1 at the Allianz-Arena (München) and was particular impressive, limiting the damage caused by Franck Ribery and Lewandowski.
“We just believed in ourselves. This is an important story when you move here. Clear Mainz are not favorites in a game like this,” said Leon Balogun to bundesliga.de.
“The coach has already told us during the week that there is a belief thing, he transmitted that well to the team. One can move mountains with this belief.
“We were just very busy and had the necessary luck. I have always spoken in recent weeks about the ability of luck that we have acquired. ”.
Balogun, 27, may earn a recall to the national team for the upcoming ties with Egypt after pulling out of the World Cup qualifiers against Swaziland in November due to a knee injury.
