Siasia Pulls Off PR Stunt By Handing Call-Up To Leon Balogun
Published: March 04, 2016
Super Eagles manager Samson Siasia has pulled off a public relations stunt by handing an invitation to FSV Mainz 05 stopper Leon Balogun for the African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Egypt.
Balogun was not included on the list of 20 foreign-based professionals named on Thursday but has been summoned for both matches after a public outcry from the Super Eagles faithful.
“I am excited at the debate that has been generated by the team list. You can never satisfy everyone,” said Samson Siasia.
“The important thing is that we know the players we want for these big games and we have invited them, and we believe in them to deliver.”
Balogun,27, has not featured for the national team since the 3-0 win against Cameroon last October.
