CSKA Moscow maintained their three-point gap at the top of the Russian Premier League table following their hard fought 1-0 win against Spartak in the Moscow derby on Sunday.
Super Eagles skipper Ahmed Musa decided the outcome of the meeting in the 11th minute with his seventh goal of the season in the league.
The pacy frontman played the full game whereas new signing Aaron Samuel watched proceedings from the bench.
Elsewhere, Lokomotiv Moscow lost ground on CSKA after losing 2-1 to Terek Grozny, with ex-AC Milan forward Henty Ezekiel handed his official debut by manager Igor Cherevchenko when he was introduced in the 58th minute.
Sylvester Igboun did not make FC Ufa’s match day squad against Mordovya. It ended 1-1.
