Mountain of Fire and Miracles Coach Impressed With Players Performance Against Pillars
Published: March 24, 2016
Head coach of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club of Lagos, Fidelis Ilechukwu has applauded his wards for excellent performance against Kano Pillars in Lagos on Wednesday.
The Olukoya Boys played out a one all draw against four times League Champions, the Sai Masu Gida in Match Day 8 of the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season yesterday at the Agege Stadium under floodlight for the first time in their sojourn in the top league.
Stanley Okorom put the hosts in front in the 28th minute of the game off a corner kick when he lifted the ball over his marker with a brilliant touch and volleyed in an emphatic fashion.
Pillars captain, Rabiu Alli drew level for the visitors from the spot in the 66th minute of the entertaining encounter.
Despite dropping a point at home for the first time this season Fidelis appreciated his boys for stopping the experienced Pillars squad from wrecking havoc.
“First and foremost I want to say we had a very good game, playing against Kano Pillars who have won the League four times and picking a point for me is a good result and I want to thank my players.
“We started the game as usual we got a couple of goal scoring opportunities and defended so well, the goal came and we scored, Kano Pillars on the other hand performed so well and equalised from the spot.
“My players really surprised me in the second half they showed that they can stand their ground when playing against tough opponents like Kano Pillars and other big teams in the league, I’m really impressed with their performance,” he told MFM FC Media.
The Lagos-based team still occupy the second position on the NPFL log with 14 points from eight league matches.
