Manchester City Hail Impressive Iheanacho After Full Debut For Nigeria
Published: March 25, 2016
English Premier League club Manchester City monitored the African Cup of Nations qualifier between Nigeria and Egypt on Friday evening.
Their highly-rated striker Kelechi Iheanacho made his first-ever start for the Super Eagles, lasting 64 minutes on the pitch before he was replaced by Osmanlıspor frontman Aminu Umar.
The Super Eagles went in front on the hour mark courtesy of Oghenekaro Etebo, who scrambled home a rebound after Iheanacho had hit the woodwork.
“Impressive @67Kelechi played just over an hour as Mohamed Salah’s late goal for Egypt meant it finished 1-1 in Nigeria. #AFCON2017,” City posted on their official Twitter page.
Iheanacho has two caps for the senior national team, having made his official debut, off the bench, in a World Cup qualifier against Swaziland last November.
