Manager Hodgson Compares Dele Alli To England Legend Bryan Robson
Published: March 26, 2016
England boss Roy Hodgson has compared Tottenham Hotspur’s midfielder of Nigerian descent Dele Alli to Three Lions legend Bryan Robson despite his young age.
Alli will make his fifth appearance for the senior team of England on Saturday night against Germany at the Olympiastadion Berlin, with the manager revealing he has been named in the starting XI.
“You mention Bryan Robson – that’s the player I would like to think he could become, but don’t forget we’re talking about a 19-year-old,” said Roy Hodgson.
“It’s so dangerous these things because he’s at the start of his career and we hope it is going to be a very long one, both for Spurs and for England.
“But we believe in him and we think he is good. If I hadn’t have believed in him, I wouldn’t have put in the team tomorrow night because we’re going to go out there and try and win this game.”
Bryan Robson represented West Brom, Manchester United,Middlesbrough and netted 26 times in 90 appearances for England.
