Exclusive : Arsenal Reignite Pursuit Of Chukwueze After Dispute Over Payment Of Transfer Fee
Published: April 07, 2016
Arsenal’s proposed move for Nigeria youth international Samuel Chukwueze has been reignited after it was thought that the transfer was on the brink of collapse due to a disagreement between the Londoners and Diamond Academy over the payment of his transfer fee.
Diamond Academy had demanded a percentage of the midfielder’s transfer fee to be paid immediately but the Emirates outfit stood their ground, stating that they can only part with money after the player attains the age of majority.
“There was a little bit of hitch, at the end of the day it was resolved if and only if Diamond Academy agree,” a source close to the Nigeria U17 international told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“Arsenal want to pay Chukwueze’s transfer fee when he is 18 , Diamond felt it was too far for them. But they should agree.”
The 16-year-old Samuel Chukwueze has been linked with a possible move to Red Bull Salzburg as well and has been proposed to German Bundesliga clubs, but has made it known in clear terms that he wants to begin his professional career at Arsenal.
He assisted the Nigeria U17s triumph at the 2015 Fifa Under 17 World Cup, scoring three goals and notching three assists.
