Arsenal Have No Plans To Renege On Nwakali Contract; No Fee Paid For Chukwueze
Published: April 10, 2016
Kelechi Nwakali’s deal with Arsenal is already in the bag and the English Premier League club have no plans whatsoever to renege on the agreement reached with Diamond/ASJ Academy at any stage before he is officially unveiled in the next two months or so.
“I can confirm that ten percent of Kelechi Nwakali’s transfer fee has been paid by Arsenal, but the information that the agreement can be terminated by the club at any time is absolutely not true,' a source that was involved in negotiations with Arsenal told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“We are in touch with Arsenal. Kelechi is a property of Arsenal and everything will be completed in June.”
On the other hand, suggestions that Nigeria U17 international Samuel Chukwueze has agreed terms with the Gunners are incorrect as the proposed deal taking him to the Emirates was on the brink of collapse until last week when talks reopened.
For the simple reason that discussions are not yet finalized, Arsenal have not paid a percentage of the 16-year-old’s transfer fee until they dot the i’s and cross the t’s.
“ Chukwueze would not have been offered a contract if not for one of our brothers, who has links with Arsenal. The ten percent of his transfer fee has not yet been paid.
“Allwell Nwakali is helping facilitate Chukwueze’s deal with Arsenal, only last week the move was reignited.
“He will return to London this month if Diamond Academy can reach a compromise with Arsenal.” he added.
Nothing has changed. Kelechi Nwakali is expected to return from London on Sunday evening and will resume training with the Nigeria U20s squad tomorrow.
