Manchester City Product Reece Wabara Named In League One Team of the Year
Published: April 25, 2016
Ex-Manchester City starlet Reece Wabara has been recognized for his outstanding performance at the heart of Wigan Athletic’s defense with the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) naming him in the League One Team of the Year on Sunday.
In a 4-4-2 formation, Wabara got the nod at right-back, though he is capable of playing the role of a central defender.
Teammates Will Grigg, Craig Morgan and Yanic Wildschut were also recognized at the ceremony with the trio included in the ceremonial Team of the Year.
The 24-year-old Wabara joined Wigan in the January transfer window after stops at Barnsley, Doncaster Rovers, Blackpool, Oldham Athletic and Ipswich Town.
He started all the four matches that the England U20s were involved in during the 2011 Fifa Under 20 World Cup in Colombia, including the 1-0 loss to Nigeria in the second round.
