Watford Striker Odion Ighalo Demands Xavi Wages At Qatari Club
Published: May 12, 2016
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that representatives of an unnamed Qatar Stars League club continue to thrash out terms with Odion Ighalo’s camp over his signing in the summer, despite genuine interest from Premier League team West Brom.
The Hornets number 24 made his intentions clear right from the word go, that he will only consider joining the club if he is paid yearly wages of ten million euros (or 40 million euros in total over the duration of his contract).
At first, the Qatari club were put off by Ighalo’s astronomical wage demands but finally gave their consent as they are desperate to sign a marquee player.
If the parties can tie up the loose ends, the Nigeria international will earn the same wages as former Barcelona hero, Xavi, who takes home €10m a season at Al Sadd.
Odion Ighalo played all ninety minutes as Watford lost to Norwich City in the Premier League on Wednesday and ended his four-month goal drought in the topflight when he scored in the second half.
