Thanks To Nigerian Connection, CD Feirense Allow Etebo To Play In Olympic Games
Published: June 07, 2016
CD Feirense attacking midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo is poised to represent Nigeria at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil, allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed.
While there is uncertainty regarding the availability of a number of foreign-based pros penciled down for the Games, the Portuguese setup have allowed the former Warri Wolves star to compete, that is if he makes the squad.
The 20-year-old Etebo is presently holidaying in Warri but has been told to link up with the Dream Team VI when they return to Abuja from South Korea, where they participated in the Suwon Invitational Tournament.
Nigerian businessman Kunle Soname has majority shares in CD Feirense and has put national interest above other considerations, and has given his approval to Etebo to begin training with the Nigeria U23s.
Oghenekaro Etebo was the top scorer of the 2015 Africa U23 Cup of Nations with five goals to his name.
