Carl Ikeme Rated One Of The Top Three Goalkeepers In The Championship By Rival
Published: June 09, 2016
Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers have bolstered their goalkeeping ranks with the signing of experienced Andy Lonergan from rivals Fulham on a 2+1 year deal.
Though the 32-year-old glovesman faces competition from Carl Ikeme for a starting shirt next term, he has high regard for the Nigeria international, stating that he’s among the top three goalkeepers in the division.
“In my opinion Carl is comfortably one of the top three keepers in the league. It is up to me to put pressure on him,”
Lonergan told Wolves’ official webpage, wolves.co.uk.
“Obviously I want to play – everyone wants to play - and everywhere I have been it has been a challenge.”
“Carl is a fantastic goalkeeper and I have heard a lot of good things about him and am looking forward to working with him.”
Last season, Carl Ikeme started 33 of Wolves’ 46 games in the Championship, logging 3,003 minutes of game time in the process.
