Rivers United Captain Calls For Focus
Published: June 20, 2016
Rivers United captain, Festus Austin has called on players of the club not to let their heads drop following their 0-2 loss to FC Ifeanyiubah in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on Sunday.
Goals from Wasiu Jimoh and Ismaila Gata gave the ‘Anambra Warriors’ the win which represented the first time United would lose a game by more than a goal margin in all competitions this term.
Austin is however eager to see his charges lift themselves up from the demoralizing reverse and focus on upcoming games this season.
“The way we lost made us angry but it is a good reaction because it will spur us to perform better in subsequent.
“We did not take our chances in the game (against FCIU) and that is why we lost.
“It is football though. You win some and lose some and we will try to bounce back from this,” he said.
Two players, Aremu Afeez and Bright Babatunde made their debuts for United in the loss to FCIU.
